After graduating from junior high school, three dreamer children namely Ikal, Arai, and Jimbron continued their education to high school "Buka Main", the adventure of the three children began. Arai is a brother of Ikal who is an orphan from grade 3 of elementary school, he is a child who is patient and resilient in living his life. Try to imagine, when Ikal and his father picked Arai, they were very concerned about Arai's condition, therefore Arai stayed with Ikal and his mother's father. Arai has been considered as his own child by father and mother Ikal. Whereas Jimbron is a foster child from a priest named Geovanny who is always willing to deliver Jimbron every evening to the mosque so that Jimbron becomes a devout Muslim. These three children are always together and have their own dreams.
The three children in the dreamer's novel settled in a room on the outskirts of Magai Pier. Every day from two in the morning the three of them had to wake up because they had to work as fishers at the Pier. Mr. Mutsar often scolded Arai, Ikal, and Jimbon for the actions of the three children. Mr. Mutsar himself is a person who has a firm, modest, and high-discipline personality. He is a hero of the children of Belitung because his services are Ikal and other friends do not have to travel hundreds of kilometers to go to school. Among children, Mr. Mustar is a fierce person, because Mr. Mutsar feels disappointed because his son did not enter the school he built himself. The dream began when a literary teacher named Mr. Balia. He is a very inspiring teacher, who is never tired of teaching his students to always have high motivation to reach their dreams with enthusiasm. Mr. Balia always gives words so that his students must have high dreams, learn from nature to be obedient to the meaning of life, explore as much knowledge as possible. His dream is to surround the beauty of Europe, the exotic African countries, and want to go to France's Sorbonne University.
Words can indeed affect one's life. Everything Mr. Balia has ever said resides in the hearts of his students. Arai is the one who most believes in all the inspirational words the teacher always gives. Arai turned into a person who had high dreams and always convinced his two friends. Already on top of that, they are willing to be coolies to realize their dreams for school in France. If human reason is normal, the savings they collect are not enough to go to France, but it never makes them desperate. As long as our dreams are strong and keep trying, there will definitely be a way to get there. Whereas on the other hand, Jimbron has admired the horse animal and is silent - he likes a quiet girl named Laksmi. Arai has a dream of marrying Zakiah, she is a girl who always rejects her, but Arai never gives up on loving her. Meanwhile, Ikal was very eager to meet the girl she adored A Ling. After graduating from Ikal and Arai High Schools migrated to Java, in Bogor. Whereas Jimbron remained in Belitung for raising horses with the girl he loved. Jimbron gave a gift of two horse piggy banks. Thus even though Jimbron had never been to Paris but his heart must have arrived there with his two best friends ... Arriving in Bogor became a new struggle for Ikal and Arai. The blast there was not what they expected. Fate made Ikal work at the post office, while Arai went to Kalimantan to not get a job. Arai just disappeared without telling his friend Ikal. He also felt very lost to Arai. In the following year, Ikal went on to study at UI by majoring in economics. After completing his studies, the opportunity to continue his studies to Sorbonne was even more open, Ikal received information on S2 scholarship majoring in economics there. Long story short Ikal joined and entered the top 15 of hundreds of scholarship applicants.
