Reading journal report

Hello... At this time I’m going to explain about the discussion of the journal titled “Reading Journal: Its Benefits For Extensive Reading”.

The conclusion that I got from the journal I had read was extensive reading with reading journals enabled students to learn new vocabulary, increased their reading speed, enabled them to concentrate, and aided them when they had trouble understanding the content. In the journal also explained there are stage-process of learning skill.

     The first one is verbalization. Verbalization, also known as presentation, requires teachers to mediate new materials or skills to be learned so they appear in an accessible form and thus can easily be perceived and understood. In this study, the reading journal as the learning strategy was presented.there are some instructions that must be done when doing verbalization.

  1. Explicit explanation must be given
  2. Ensurefull attention
  3. Present instruction and explanation more than once
  4. Be brief but clear
  5. Illustrate with the examples 
  6. Get feedback from the learners
    The second stage-process is automatization. This is exactly what was done with the reading journal. It was made sure that the students had a good preliminary grasp of how to use the reading journal by engaging themselves in more practice until they achieved mastery of how to accomplish the reading journal. Once materials or skills are automatized, learners begin to improve on their own through further meaningful practice activities. Learners begin to speed up performance, to perceive or create new combinations, and to ‘do their own thing’

     I think that's enough for this time. Next week I will share more about the benefits of extensive reading through reading journal.

          Comparison Between 2 Journals About Extensive Reading      In the previous time, I have reviewed a journal titled Reading Journal: Its Benefits For Extensive Reading. At this time, I would like to compare 2 journals that I have read. The journals are titled Reading Journal: Its Benefits For Extensive Reading and The Power of Extensive Reading.       Reading Journal: Its Benefits For Extensive Reading that wrote by Jonathan Aliponga in 2013 explain about how reading journal can make the students have many benefits especially for extensive reading.
